What Type of Treats to Bring to a Summer BBQ?
by mark anthony at 2012-07-30 12:47:00

Nat King Cole used to sing about those lazy, hazy crazy days of summer. Unfortunately, Nat and his smooth silky voice are not around anymore, but those days still are: and they seem to be getting hotter than ever. Just sunny and hot enough for a weekend backyard barbeque, right?

Or maybe you’re not the one with the backyard, or the swimming pool—but friends of yours are having one and they’ve invited you over. They told you not to worry about the food—they’ve got plenty of hot dogs and hamburgers, salad, even tofu dogs, and lots of beer of course. But could everybody bring some dessert, please? So what are you going to bring?

All your friends at the BBQ will be quite impressed if you carry in there a whole box, or two, of Italian treats from Circo’s. Just imagine their mouths watering when they spy the almond biscotti you bring, or a whole canopy of cannoli (plural of connolo, by the way!), strawberry cups, rainbow, pignoli and butter cookies! How about a whole fondue cake or two, with a customized “Happy BBQ” inscription on the top? The possibilities are endless—and so will be the “grazies” and the sighs of delight you will get from your friends and family for being so considerate of their taste buds.

Getting a Communion Cake for a Child in Your Family
by mark anthony at 2012-07-16 11:09:00

St. Mark tells us that at the Last Supper, Jesus created his Church, by saying the holy words, “he took a loaf of bread, and after blessing it he broke it, gave it to them, and said, ‘Take; this is my body.’ Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks he gave it to them, and all of them drank from it. He said to them, ‘This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many.’”

Wow! Your second grader is about to enter the Church, by taking the Eucharist. He or she joins the rest of the community at the table of the Lord. This is a big step towards a responsible, ethical adulthood.

This is a big step in his life. After the beautiful ceremony, show your child how proud you are that they are passing this milestone in their young lives—with a communion cake from Circo’s Pastry Shop.

We at Circo’s in Brooklyn have a variety of religious cakes to choose from. They are beautifully decorated, mouthwatering fondant covered cakes. Your child will deeply appreciate the solemnity of this Eucharist sacrament with a cake decorated with a cross, and an inscription expressing your love, pride, and best wishes.

Get ready for this great day in your child’s life! Give us a call, email us, or drop by the store in Brooklyn at

Perhaps they’re already training, or just about to start training for Little League baseball.  Maybe it’s joining the softball team, and they are starry eyed with the prospect of victory.
